Inspection of Sectors:
The joint team of inspection began the tour of the areas starting from Sector E-Down. They visited the conversion site of DS and moved to the Sectors C and E/L before proceeding to inspect Dyke 4. Shortly after the inspection, the team held a round table meeting to finalize on the arrangement for the commencement of the works on Monday.
It was agreed that the works begin from sector C. Yet, the contractor still allayed fears on the security arrangements but, was asked if the number of security agents mobilized so far were impressive which the contractor answered in affirmation. The complaint raised was in case of emergency, what was the security arrangement for both the yard and the field. The contractor’s CSO to alert the PMU CSO while the Scheme draws up the plan on how to secure the areas, but the security agents need to be familiar with the terrain.
After the inspection of the sites, what pattern of security arrangement is going to be? The PM CGC inquired. It was agreed that the security agents discuss it among themselves as it was not an a issue to be made public or in a large gathering. Therefore, it was suggested that a GIS expert needs to liaise with the security agents and teach them the map of the area to further understand more about the terrain. The security agents agreed the work can start from Sector C. The contractor’s PM together with the CSOs on site and the Security expert to sit on a round table to discuss the security plan before afternoon the following day (Sunday).
Works intended to be carried out will begin with Sector (C) where there are issues bordering on the area that need repairs. The contractor to handle all the corrections and for a letter of approval on the additional works, the contractor was urged to write a formal request prior to the issuance of the letter.
